In the 1920's a young man named Ghazi Elam Din Shaheed, seemingly an ordinary mortal was hanged in India for killing RAJPAL, the publisher  of an inflammatory book defaming and vilifying Prophet Muhammad (SAW). 

It is interesting to note that Quaid e Azam, Dr Sir Muhammad Iqbal and Dr Muhammad Din Taseer were closely associated in favoring Elam Din Shaheed.

The case went to court and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was his defence lawyer. Jinnah urged Ilm Din to enter a plea of not guilty plea and to say that he had acted due to extreme provocation. The fact that Ilm Din was only 19 years old would have also worked in his favour. Ilm Din refused to offer such a plea and insisted that he was proud of his actions. This case was the only one that Jinnah ever lost. 

 

The young man was hanged and the authorities buried him without any Janazah (funeral) prayer being offered for him. Mass demonstrations broke out and there the tension between the Hindu and Muslim communities was palpable. The inhabitants of Lahore wanted Ilm Din’s body returned in order to give him an Islamic janaza (funeral).  Reportedly, Dr Muhammad Din Taseer, the first Ph D in the Sub continent and father of Salman Taseer arranged the burriel.

Two celebrated activists — the poet Dr. Muhammed Allama Iqbal and Mian Abdul Aziz — campaigned to have the body of Ilm Din returned to Lahore for the Janaza prayer. The British were worried that this would incite unrest. Only after Allama Iqbal gave his assurance to the British that no riots would erupt, was permission given.

When the body of Ilm Din was exhumed from its grave, it was found to be the intact without any change whatsoever. The kaffan (shroud) had not changed its colour — a full 15 days after the hanging. 

 

 Mawlana Zafar Ali Khan said ahead of the burial: "Alas! If only if I had managed to attain such a blessed status!"

 Allama Iqbal carried the funeral bier along its final journey. As Iqbal placed the body of Ilm Din into the grave, he tearfully declared: "This uneducated young man has surpassed us, the educated ones."

PS: The killing of Ghazi Ilm Din gave birth to the infamous blasphemy law. The killing of Ilm Din had far-reaching repercussions. The British raj therefore  added a  provision to the Penal Code, making insult to the religious beliefs of any class an offense.

It is sad and unbelievable to see amount of confusion and denial regarding the punishment of blasphemy in Islam. This is the great success of dajjali system that people are convinced that Islam only means forgiveness. This concept is not new and derived from modern day Christianity when dajjali system convinced its follower on forgiveness irrespective of the crime. People talks about forgiveness in the same way as modern day Christian do. The same trend and thought pattern is evolving in Muslim world and especially in Pakistan where many people have sympathy with malaoon Salman Taseer. One question is repeatedly asked," why can,t we forgive while Islam is a religion of peace and forgiveness? Not realizing the severity of crime and practical implications of this disgusting kinds of forgiveness. Since few days, I am constantly in the state of argumentation with my fellow Muslim brothers and sisters who know every thing but the punishment of blasphemy in Islam. Then I decide to upload my favourite book on blasphemy "Al sarim Al Maslool ala shatim alrasool" written by Imam Ibn e Taymia (RA). This books comprehensively covers all aspects of blasphemy and its punishment in Islam. It is a worth reading book.

سلمان تاثیر کا قتل- کچھ کڑوی باتیں

کل سلمان تاثیر کے قتل کی خبر سن کر مجھے کئی سال قبل منظور وٹو کی کابینہ کا وہ وزیر یاد آ گیا جسے اس کے ذاتی سیکورٹی گارڈ  نے لاہور اسمبلی میں  گولیاں مار کر قتل کر دیا تھا. سیکورٹی گارڈ کا کہنا تھا کہ وزیر موصوف نے ایک عورت کو حاملہ کر دیا تھا اور اب اپنے گناہ  کو چھپانے کے لیے اسے اس سے شادی پر مجبور کر رہا تھا. مگر سلمان تاثیر کے بارے میں یہ بات درست نہیں ہو سکتی تھی کیوں کہ وو اپنے گناہوں کو چھپانے کے عادی نہیں تھے.
اس کے کرتوتوں سے مجھے اندازہ تھا کہ یہ توہین رسالت کے جرم میں  ہی مارا گیا ہے. چونکہ میں ٹی وی کے پاس نہ تھا اس لیے مجھے قاتل کے بارے میں بھی کچھ پتا نہ تھا. میں سمجھا کہ شاید تحریک طالبان پاکستان نے قتل کیا ہو گا یا پھر اگر کسی اور نے بھی قتل کیا ہوا تو وہ ذمہ داری ضرور قبول کر لیں گے.مگر شاید تحریک طالبان صرف دہشت گردی ہی کرتی ہے.کیونکہ کافی دیر بعد پتا چلا کہ اسے ناموس رسالت کے قانون کو کالا قانون کہنے کے جرم میں اس کے سیکورٹی گارڈ نے قتل کیا ہے. 

قتل کے فوری بعد میڈیا پر ایک طوفان بدتمیزی برپا ہو گیا. ملک ممتاز قادری (قاتل) کی  قانون ہاتھ میں لینے پر مذمت شروع ہو گئی. لوگوں کو ٹی وی پر آنے کا موقع مل گیا. بہت سوں کو زبردستی مذمت کے لیے بلا لیا گیا، انہوں نے دل سے نہ چاہتے ہوئے بھی مذمت کی. اس سارے ڈرامے میں کسی نے یہ نہ کہا کہ قانون ہاتھ میں لینے کی پہل سلمان تاثیر نے کی تھی. جس نے سزا یافتہ گستاخ رسول آسیہ بی بی کو پھانسی سے بچا کر محفوظ مقام پر منتقل کروایا تھا. اور پاکستان کے آئین میں موجود قانون کو کالا قانون کہا. اس وقت تو کسی نے اس کی مذمت نہ کی؟ کسی کو یاد نہ آیا کہ آئین کی بے حرمتی ہو رہی ہے. توہین عدالت کا بھی کسی نے ذکر تک نہ کیا. اب اچانک سب کو آئین یاد آ گیا. اچانک سے آئین میں موجود قوانین مقدس گائے بن گئے. ممتاز قادری کے لیے سزایں تجویز کرنے والے بھول گئے کہ ان ساری سزاؤں کے مستحق ان کے محبوب گورنر صاحب بھی تھے. اور عجیب بات یہ ہے کہ ہمارے ملک میں قانون کو ہاتھ میں لینے پر احتجاج صرف اس وقت ہوتا ہے جب کوئی کمزور شخص ایسا کرتا ہے. طاقتور کے لیے ایسا کرنا معمول کی بات ہے. اس لیے ایسی خبروں کو ہمیشہ نظرانداز کیا جاتا ہے. ہمارے معاشرے میں اس کی بہت سی مثالیں موجود ہیں. جن کا ذکر کر کے میں آپکا اور اپنا وقت برباد نہیں کرنا چاہتا. 

کچھ لوگوں کا خیال ہے کہ گورنر صاحب نے گستاخ رسول کی حمایت کر کے خود کشی کی تھی. کیونکہ ان ساری حرکتوں سے انہوں نے نہ صرف کروڑوں مسلمانوں کے جذبات مجروح کے تھے بلکہ انھیں یہ کہ کر اشتعال بھی دلایا تھا کہ میں ان سب احتجاج کرنے والوں کو اپنی جوتی کی نوک پر رکھتا ہوں. اس لیے وو اپنی موت کے ذمہ دار خود ہی ہیں. یا پھر وہ عدالتیں ہیں جو گورنر کو ان سارے جرائم پر سزا نہ دی سکیں. جس کے نتیجے میں ایک عام آدمی کو قانون ہاتھ میں لینا پڑا.
سچ تو یہ ہے کہ سلمان تاثیر کے قتل کی مزمت صرف ٹی وی کی حد تک ہی محدود ہے. میں نے اپنے ارد گرد کوئی ایک بھی ایسا آدمی نہیں دیکھا جو اسے  واقعے کو برا سمجتا ہو. بلکہ ساری عوام ایسے ناپاک گورنر سے چھٹکارا پا کر خوش نظر آتی ہے. بلکہ ان کا مطالبہ ہے کہ ملک ممتاز قادری کو نہ صرف غازی کہا جائے بلکہ فوری رہا بھی کیا جائے. اس مقصد کے لیے تمام دینی جماتوں کو مشترکہ تحریک چلانی چاہیے.
